Help Me Choose!

I’m about to start making my very first quilt ever!  Despite the fact that I have so much fabric I don’t know what to do with…I’ve ordered more to get me started!  These are from Amy Butler’s “Daisy Chain” line:

I’m participating in Oh, Fransson’s Quilt-Along, which is such a brilliant idea!  So far there are 163 members of the “Mod Sampler Quilt Along” group on Flikr.  I am feeling so inspired by the amazing Elizabeth of Oh, Fransson.  Her quilts and free-motion embrodiery skills are stunning.  I think that for my first quilt it will really help me to be connected to a virtual support group, of sorts.  We are just finishing Week One, so if you’re interested in joining, it’s not too late!

So here’s where I need your help.  I’ve designed the basic outline of my quilt on my computer, but I’m having a terrible time choosing which color scheme to go with for the Sashing.  Can you help me choose?  Here are the mock-ups:

Ivory Sashing (Amy Butler Solids)

Light Blue Sashing (Essex Linen/Cotton Blend)

Putty Sashing (Essex Linen/Cotton Blend)

Green Sashing (Amy Butler Solids)

So…?  What do you think?  Let’s here your votes!  (I’m not going to tell you my favorite so as to not sway any votes!)

  1. I like the bottom 2- the top 2 don’t have enough contrast in my mind. I like the pink of course but for you, the green is very cute!

  2. I like the Putty sashing the best with all that lovely Amy Butler fabric! It’s going to be pretty regardless of what colour you choose. 🙂

  3. I love the white! The gray is my second choice. Love the pattern and colorway you chose!

  4. Thank you! I’m so glad you’re excited about the quilt along.
I actually have a bunch of both the Daisy Chain and the Essex Putty sitting on my table right now and they look great together, so that’s my vote ! 🙂

  5. I really like the putty- it really makes it all POP!

  6. Dan and I both think the Putty, its a soothing and pretty color, but the ivory really makes the patterns pop! Pick putty!

  7. I vote for the white, with a thin putty border instead of the printed green. This looks like fun!

  8. I like all but putty and ivory are nice. Oh decisions! Can you tell me how you did the mock up on your PC please? Its my first quilt too and I am trying to do it with my stash of fabric but the Amy Butler prints are wonderful and then I see others choices too and they are fabulous…..so tempting…..maybe a trip to the fabric store to see…….

  9. I know I’m in the minority, but I really like the green on the bottom. It’s so fresh and springy. I love how you are able to plan your quilt out on the computer…really cool!

  10. My first thought when I saw your fabrics but before I saw your mock ups was grey. After seeing your mock ups I was still loving the grey/putty, but my close second is the green.

  11. I’m gonna have to go with the green. Putty would be second.
    Have fun!!

  12. Personally, I like the ivory the best as you do want those swatches to pop or come alive. Amy Butler fabric just screams to be the center of attention, please do not douse them and drown them with the other drab colors 🙂
