Since we moved about 3 weeks ago, I’ve been trying to perfect my new sewing space. It’s definitely large enough! I’m so lucky to have a whole room to myself. I’m still working on a couple of projects, including recovering my desk chair, finding suitable frames for the old photographs I currently have on the walls (or at least re-matting the photos – does anyone have any good ideas for a creative and cheap way to display photographs?) and making pillows for the futon (I borrowed these from our living room couches).

I bought my curtains from Target online, and I absolutely love them! They were a splurge, for sure, but ultimately worth it. The tall bookshelf is from Ikea. My sewing desk is probably my favorite piece in the room, and we found it at Cost Plus World Market for a steal. The cutting table and futon were both craigslist finds, and my antique mirror and lamp were given to me by my grandma but originally belonged to my great-grandmother. The small damask boxes (2 on the floor holding fabric and one on the bookshelf) were bought at T.J. Maxx for $10.00. Not bad for a tight budget!
I am so enjoying spending time in my new room. As you can see, I have the most beautiful view from that large picture window. It definitely helps me be more creative! Now if only I had the time to use it more often!

Congrats on your new sewing space! 🙂
I dream of one day not having to share my sewing space with my bedroom. Those curtains are fabulous! Funny, I envisioned a futon in my sewing space as well.
Happy sewing~

I am SO jealous! You don’t know how much I would love a sewing room! Maybe I should move Maddie to the closet and take over her room! The color looks really good, everything came together so well! Love you!
Wow it looks great! I get frames from Goodwill and then paint them all the same color to freshen them up. They run a few dollars each and are usually nicer than what you might buy at Target, since they’re generally older (made with wood and have real glass frames).
You are one lucky lady with your own sewing room! Keep posting your projects!
WOW! It’s so beautiful in here!
Very nice! I never did get a project room. You probably recall the many projects done on the dining room table! But, I will say that I mostly cleaned up after myself each day. Enjoy it while you can! By the way, it looks very nice. While this be my bedroom when I come to Seattle?
Love, Mom
How fun! I love having my own creative space! I absolutely love all your fabric choices! so bright and fun 🙂
Dang what a great sewing room! I have that same cutting table and I LOVE IT! I have to maneuver around a queen bed since my sewing room is also our guest room… but oh well – some day! And your photos remind me… I need to make a cover for my sewing machine – Gah!
that is a beautiful (and HUGE!!!) space. i love it! the curtains are gorgeous, as is the desk from world market. they have such great pieces.
Lovely — and the window is truly fab!
It took me a long time to get my swing space – then we had to move before I got a change to really enjoy it and to make new things. I’m hoping I’ll get it together soon and have another – well maybe one day. I enjoy your postings and have fun with your space. http://refractedlite.blogspot.com/2009/04/my-old-new-digs.html
